American Cricket Tournament Updates:
Saturday, March 20,2010
The day was sunny here in Ft. Lauderdale. Rutgers started batting after winning the toss. Jagminder SIngh bagged 2 wickets in the first over. Then the match went on. They scored 160/4 in 20 overs. Our team started batting and lost wickets early on. Dinesh Kumar (34 runs) was the only player who stood up to the team. Most of the players failed in understanding the pace of the bowlers. We lost the game and are out of the tournament. Unfortunately, not our day. With despair, we will return to NY. York College went through to semi finals. Hopefully, we will be able to win it next time.

Its a good sunny morning. Winds blowing and a perfect day for cricket. We faced two games today. First one was against York College, NY. The ground was wet from yesterday's rain and the outfield was so slippery. We elected to field after winning the toss. Bowling was different today. Everyone was hit for a lot of runs. Several misfields and a lot of extras led to a huge score of 175.
Akeem Dodson stroked 13 fours in his 68 runs against NYU-Poly. Dodson took on the pace of Adrian Gordon and Jagminder Singh on the fast boucing wickets of the cricket ground. Gordon has impressed with his pace, but Dodson was not fazed. After such a huge total, we went on to play our innings. Jagminder Singh(20), Hardik Shah(18) impressed everyone with their amazing strokes, but that was ephemeral. The batsmen could not stand to the fury of York bowlers and were all out for 88.
As a new phoenix which rises from the ashes of the old one, NYU-Poly players bounced back. They were stronger than ever. Showed their best stats in the next game against UPenn. It was hot, but we did not care. We started bowling on the best possible way. No more excuses. We kept the bowling attack tight and restrained them. We got the whole batting side for 81 runs. Jagminder Singh (4 wickets), Adrian Gordon (3 wickets) were awesome with their bowling attack. Then we started our innings with a boundary. Adrian (41 runs) and Jagminder Singh (25 runs) were the high scorers of the game. They were the stars of yesterday's game. We got one more game tomorrow with RUTGERS tomorrow which will decide our fate to the semi finals in the tournament. Wish us luck!!!

Today, we played a match with Boston University. Boston University scored 124 for 6 and NYU 125 for 4 to give NYU-Poly the win. Everyone performed well. Dinesh Kumar (44 runs) was the most impressive batsman in the game. Dhwanil Shah was impressive with his clever shots. Alok Prabhu was impressive with the spin bowling which literally contained the players to a low score. We got ahead with a good start.
